I recently attempted a bid for an iPhone app project. Employer desired a number of 3D animation videos that would demonstrate the process and use of a new iPhone application that his startup company had developed.
After a few short conversations with the employer I ended up losing the bid, BUT it’s only really a loss if no lesson was learned.
After awarding the contract elsewhere, the employer was kind enough to advise me to extend my portfolio and include a few more examples of 3D model animation work. He informed me that lots of startup app companies are in need of this kind of visual presentation.
So … I fired up the After Effects program, and whipped this up.
UPDATE: I linked the lost client to the Vimeo video (above) and he replied hours later: “Impressive! I expressed your need for a broader portfolio because your talent is evident! I will certainly return, with you in mind, for future projects.”
